The Best ChatGPT Plugins for Meal Planning in 2026, Ranked by How You Plan
Kevin
TL;DR
- The best ChatGPT plugin for meal planning depends on how much of the week you want handled: Pantry Persona, which we make, plans from your pantry and saved recipes, CookNest from your own recipe library, and NoshUp shows a weekly plan with flyer deals matched to your list.
- Pantry Persona plans from your saved recipes and your pantry, which a receipt photo restocks and a fridge photo adds to when you ask. Its list adds only what's missing and hands off to Instacart. Free ChatGPT and Claude accounts work.
- The ChatGPT Plugin Directory has no food or cooking row on its front page, and on October 7, 2026 a search for "meal planning" found no plugins while "meal" found 15.
- CookNest, Dillr, FamilyWise HQ, RecipeBee, NoshUp, Love and Lemons and MyFitnessPal all describe meal planning in their directory listings. Three plugins also keep a pantry: CookNest, SousAI and Pantry Persona.
- Four of these plugins cost nothing to start: Pantry Persona and NoshUp have free plans, SousAI is currently free, and Dillr's site says it is free to start. Paid prices read off each vendor's own site on October 7, 2026: RecipeBee lists its App Store price as $4.99 a month or $44.99 a year, NoshUp Pro is $4.99 a month, and Pantry Persona Pro is $7.99 a month.

We read each plugin's directory listing on October 7, 2026, and the vendor's own site for nine of the eleven (all but MyFitnessPal and ChefPlan). Eight of the plugins ranked below came from a search for "meal", and CookNest, SousAI and ChefPlan are listed in the directory as well.
You open the plugins page in ChatGPT, type "meal planning" into the search box, and the page tells you it found nothing. Shorten it to "meal" and you get a long column of cards, calorie trackers mixed in with the meal planners. Each card is a name, one line of tagline, and a plus sign. Nothing on the page tells you which one plans dinner, which one only finds a recipe, and which one wants a paid account before it does anything.
So we opened the directory listings of eleven food plugins. The useful way to sort them is by how much of the week each one handles once it's connected: a few plan around what is in your kitchen and shop only for the gap, some plan from recipes you saved, and some find a recipe. The entries below run in that order.
How do you find a meal-planning plugin in ChatGPT?
Search one word at a time at chatgpt.com/plugins, because a two-word phrase can come back empty. On October 7, 2026, "meal planning" returned no plugins and "meal" returned 15, five of them calorie trackers.
Browsing will not get you there either. The directory's front page sorts plugins into seventeen rows, and none of them is food. Each plugin's own detail page names a category instead: Productivity for CookNest and FamilyWise HQ, Healthcare for MyFitnessPal and ChefPlan, and Other for most of the rest.
Cards carry no ratings or install counts, so the only way to compare two plugins is to open each detail page and read the description and the starter prompts.
Can ChatGPT make a good meal plan on its own?
ChatGPT will write you a week of dinners from one prompt, and the recipes are usually fine. What it lacks on its own is your kitchen. Its memory recalls things you said in earlier chats, which is a set of notes rather than a live count of what is on the shelf tonight. So the plan it writes is built from what you remembered to type, and the grocery list it hands back has no way to leave out the rice you bought on Sunday.
Picture a Monday night. You ask for Tuesday and Wednesday dinners. ChatGPT suggests a chicken stir-fry and black bean tacos, and its list includes chicken thighs, soy sauce and rice. The soy sauce and rice are already in your cupboard and the chicken is in the freezer, and nothing in the conversation knew. You can type all of that in, and you will have to type it again next week.
That gap is what a meal-planning plugin is for. The plugin gives ChatGPT a place to keep your recipes, your plan or your pantry, and tools to read and change them. The plugins below differ in which of those they keep. For the longer version of what ChatGPT's memory holds and drops, see can ChatGPT remember your kitchen.
A meal plan is only as good as what the assistant knows about your kitchen, and on its own it knows what you remembered to type.
How do the ChatGPT meal-planning plugins compare?
The table runs in the same order as the entries below, from the plugin that handles the most of the week to the ones that find a single recipe. The second column is each plugin's own tagline from its directory card, and prices sit in each entry below.
| Plugin | Its own tagline | What it handles |
|---|---|---|
| Pantry Persona | "Meal Plans, Recipes, Groceries" | Pantry, saved recipes, plan, list minus what you have |
| CookNest | "Your recipes, plans and lists" | Your recipe library, weekly dinners, aisle-sorted list, pantry |
| Dillr | "Save recipes, plan meals, cook" | Saved recipes, weekly menu, cook mode, list |
| FamilyWise HQ | "Meal plans, lists & routines" | Dinners, grocery list, family calendar, chores |
| RecipeBee | "Save recipes and meal plans" | Saves recipes and imported meal plans |
| SousAI | "Recipes, groceries and pantry" | Saved recipes, grocery list, kitchen inventory |
| NoshUp | "Meal plans, deals, budget" | Weekly plan, list with flyer deals, spending |
| Love and Lemons | "Find recipes and plan meals" | Its own recipes, a plan, a printable list |
| MyFitnessPal | "Generate meal plans, recipes, and personalized nutrition guidance" | Meal plans and nutrition guidance |
| ChefPlan | "Track calories & recipes" | A calorie target, then a recipe |
| 1-2-3-Cook+Bake | "Find recipes+baking+meals+prep" | One recipe in a widget |
What does Pantry Persona do that the other plugins don't list?
Pantry Persona does four things that none of the other ten listings we read describes:
- Send a photo of your fridge with "add what you can see to my pantry" and it adds what it can see.
- A receipt photo puts the items you bought into the pantry and checks off the matching items on your shopping list.
- When you plan, it flags what is about to expire and offers to plan around it.
- The list hands off to Instacart in a tap, on the free plan.
Two others come close on the pantry: SousAI's listing says it will "track kitchen inventory," and CookNest's site lists a pantry while its listing says the shopping list skips "the staples you always have at home."
The ChatGPT meal-planning plugins, ranked by how much of the week they handle
Pantry Persona
Pantry Persona, which we make, keeps your kitchen inside the chat you already use. You say "I bought chicken thighs, milk, and eggs" and all three are in your pantry. Send a photo of your fridge with "add what you can see to my pantry" and it adds the food it can identify. A photo of a grocery receipt adds the items you bought and checks off the matching items on your shopping list. Mark a recipe cooked and its ingredients come back out.
There is no setup step where you catalog your kitchen first. With nothing saved, tell it what you've got and it comes back with ideas. As your recipes and pantry fill in, it plans from the recipes you saved, flags what is about to expire and offers to plan around it, and shows you each day of the plan to confirm before it saves.
Added what I could clearly see. I left out what I couldn't identify.
Ask for a shopping list from the plan and it subtracts the pantry, so the list holds only what you don't already have. When you are ready to buy, the list hands off to Instacart. Your partner can view, add to, edit and check off that same list from their own ChatGPT, Claude or the web dashboard.
For Tuesday's stir-fry and Wednesday's tacos, the list holds black beans, green onions, tortillas and limes, and leaves off the chicken thighs, soy sauce and rice you already had at home.
The free tier holds unlimited pantry items and 100 recipes, with 7-day meal planning, two dietary profiles, receipt scanning, the Instacart export, and sharing with one other person. Pro is $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year after a 7-day free trial. It stretches planning to 30 days and profiles to eight, imports recipes from TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Pinterest, and adds per-recipe nutrition.
CookNest
CookNest is a recipe app first, and its plugin brings your own library into the conversation. The listing says recipes come in "imported from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and any website, scanned from paper, or typed in," and that asking what you can cook with chicken "searches your saved recipes, not the web." It plans the week's dinners from your recipes and turns the plan into a shopping list "sorted by aisle, skipping the staples you always have at home." Changes show up in the CookNest app on iPhone, Android and the web.
You sign in with a CookNest account through Google, Apple or email, and CookNest's own page calls its Claude version an "Official directory connector" (cooknest.app). CookNest fits you if your recipes already live in its app; the plan is only as wide as the library you have built there.
Dillr
Dillr's listing opens on cooking: ask ChatGPT for a recipe and Dillr "turns it into a step-by-step cook mode with built-in timers and the ingredients one tap away." It saves the recipes you keep, plans a week of meals "in one conversation," and writes a shopping list "organized the way you shop." Its starter prompts include "Show my menu for next week" and "Make a shopping list for my menu."
Dillr's site says it is "Free to start" and that it "plugs into ChatGPT and Claude" (dillr.ai). The same page describes the list as "shared with the household." Dillr suits someone who wants help at the stove as much as at the planning stage.
FamilyWise HQ
FamilyWise HQ is a family organizer with meal planning inside it. From ChatGPT you can plan weekly meals, save recipes and side dishes, manage the grocery list, and work with the FamilyWise calendar, reminders, chores and routines. Its listing says you see the proposed changes and confirm them before anything is saved, and it states the connection "does not access health information, medications or private family-member profiles."
The listing also says "FamilyWise Plus or Premium is required," so the plugin connects to a FamilyWise account on one of those plans. If your household already runs on FamilyWise, this puts its dinner plan and its calendar in the same chat.
RecipeBee
RecipeBee saves recipes and meal plans that ChatGPT writes into a private RecipeBee account. When you import a meal plan, it checks your private recipes for matches and lets you choose whether to reuse each match or create a new recipe before saving. It can also attach an image from the conversation.
RecipeBee has an iPhone app, and its site lists the App Store price as $4.99 a month or $44.99 a year. Its site also lists a remote MCP server address, the kind of connection Claude and other MCP clients use (recipebee.app).
SousAI
SousAI keeps three things in one account: your private recipes, your grocery list, and your kitchen inventory. One of its starter prompts shows how they connect: "Check my grocery list and kitchen inventory, then add ingredients I need for tonight's dinner." Its terms say it is "currently offered free of charge" and that it can connect to "Claude or ChatGPT" through its MCP connector (SousAI terms), and you add items to either list by asking.
NoshUp
NoshUp plans meals with prices in mind. In ChatGPT it finds meals by cuisine and diet, shows your weekly meal plan, checks your grocery list against "matched flyer deals," and tracks grocery spending by category. Its site lists flyer matches from FreshCo, Costco and Walmart, and says it "Works with ChatGPT and Gemini."
The directory listing says "All tools are read-only," so in ChatGPT NoshUp shows your plan, list and deals without changing them. Its free plan includes 7-day meal plans, basic grocery lists and flyer deal matching, and Pro is $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year (noshup.ca).
Love and Lemons
Love and Lemons is a recipe blog's own plugin. Ask by ingredient, cuisine or craving and it returns a carousel of its recipes "complete with photos, ratings, and excerpts," with a link to the full instructions. Ask for a meal plan and it builds a schedule of three to seven days "built around ingredient overlap," with a shopping list you can print. It fits a reader who already cooks from Love and Lemons and wants that collection planned into a week.
MyFitnessPal, ChefPlan and 1-2-3-Cook+Bake
MyFitnessPal and ChefPlan start from calories, and 1-2-3-Cook+Bake starts from one recipe. MyFitnessPal's listing reads "Generate meal plans, recipes, and personalized nutrition guidance," and its starter prompts open on calories: "How many calories should I eat to hit my weight goal?" ChefPlan calculates your daily energy needs with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation from your weight, height, age and activity level, then finds recipes by name or picks one at random. 1-2-3-Cook+Bake does one job: ask ChatGPT for a recipe, such as apple pie, and it shows it "in an easy to use widget."
If you are still deciding whether to use a plugin at all, the wider field, apps included, is in the best meal-planning tools in 2026, and the case for paying for one is in is a meal-planning app worth it.
Which is better for meal planning, Claude or ChatGPT?
For meal planning, the assistant matters less than whether your plugin runs in both. Pantry Persona installs from the ChatGPT Plugin Directory and from Claude's connector directory, on any plan, free included, and the same pantry, recipes and list show up in either one. Among the other plugins here, CookNest, Dillr and SousAI also say on their own sites that they connect to Claude, and RecipeBee lists an MCP server address.
On a paid Claude plan, voice conversations can use connectors, so you can plan the week by voice with Pantry Persona while your hands are full. Past that, use the assistant you already open at five o'clock, because that is where the plan will get made.
Common questions about ChatGPT meal-planning plugins
What is the best free ChatGPT plugin for meal planning?
Four of these plugins cost nothing to start: Pantry Persona and NoshUp have free plans, SousAI is currently free, and Dillr's site says it is free to start. Pantry Persona's free tier holds unlimited pantry items and 100 recipes, plans 7 days at a time, scans receipts, and builds a list that skips what you have. SousAI is currently free of charge and keeps recipes, a grocery list and a pantry. NoshUp's free plan includes 7-day meal plans and flyer deal matching.
Which AI is best for meal planning?
ChatGPT and Claude both work for meal planning once a plugin holds your pantry and recipes. Pantry Persona keeps your pantry and saved recipes inside ChatGPT or Claude. You set each person's dietary needs, likes and dislikes once, and it applies them every time you plan, then builds a list of only what is missing. The other plugins here each keep some mix of recipes, plans, lists and pantry, and you choose by which of those you need.
What are the ChatGPT plugins for cooking?
Dillr, 1-2-3-Cook+Bake, Love and Lemons, ChefPlan and MyFitnessPal all help at the stove or bring you a recipe. Dillr turns a recipe into a cook mode with built-in timers. 1-2-3-Cook+Bake shows one recipe in a widget, and Love and Lemons returns its own recipes with photos. ChefPlan finds a recipe by name or picks one at random, and one of MyFitnessPal's starter prompts asks for a healthy dinner to cook today. Pantry Persona takes a cooked recipe's ingredients out of your pantry when you mark it cooked, so the next plan starts from what is left.
Is there a ChatGPT meal planning app?
ChatGPT writes meal plans on its own, and plugins from its Plugin Directory add a place to keep your kitchen between chats. The directory's front page has no food row, and on October 7, 2026 a search for "meal planning" found nothing while "meal" found plugins, so search one word at a time. Most of the plugins here keep your recipes, a plan, a list or a pantry, and a few work differently: NoshUp, for example, shows its plan without changing it.
Which ChatGPT plugins save or find recipes?
CookNest, FamilyWise HQ, RecipeBee and SousAI save recipes to your account with them. Love and Lemons, ChefPlan and 1-2-3-Cook+Bake find a recipe for you. Pantry Persona does both: it saves recipes from a website link or from conversation, and it searches them by ingredient, cuisine or cook time.
Can ChatGPT give me meal ideas from what I have?
Yes. ChatGPT suggests meals from whatever you type into the chat. With Pantry Persona connected and nothing saved yet, tell it what you've got and it comes back with ideas. As you save recipes and fill the pantry, it plans from the recipes you saved, puts the ones you have the most ingredients for first, varies meals from week to week, and leaves what you own off the shopping list.
Do you need an account to use a meal-planning plugin?
Plugins that save your recipes or plans connect to an account with the vendor. CookNest signs you in with Google, Apple or email, SousAI and RecipeBee save to an account you hold with each of them, and FamilyWise HQ needs Plus or Premium. Pantry Persona creates its account on the connect screen, with Google or email, so you never sign up on a separate site first.
Start with the plugin that knows what you have
Pick for the Tuesday when nobody has planned anything. On that night, a plugin that only finds a recipe still leaves you checking the cupboard, and one that holds the pantry you gave it can answer what to cook and what to buy. If that second one is what you are after, connect Pantry Persona to the ChatGPT or Claude account you already have, and start by telling it what you bought this week.
